EMDR Therapy
When the past keeps showing up in the present, EMDR helps your brain finally process what it couldn't before—so you can move forward without being held back by old pain.
When the Past Won't Stay in the Past
Maybe it's a memory that still makes your heart race. A feeling that gets triggered when you least expect it. A heaviness you've carried for so long you've almost forgotten what it's like to feel light.
Traumatic experiences—whether a single event or years of difficult circumstances—can get "stuck" in your brain in a way that keeps them feeling present and raw. You might logically know you're safe now, but your body and emotions haven't gotten the message.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain do what it naturally wants to do: process and heal. It's not about forgetting. It's about remembering without the overwhelming emotional charge.
How EMDR Works
Preparation & Safety
We build a foundation of trust and teach you grounding techniques before any processing begins. You'll never be pushed faster than you're ready.
Identify Target Memories
Together, we identify specific memories or experiences that are causing current distress. You don't need to share every detail—just enough to focus the work.
Bilateral Stimulation
While holding the memory lightly in mind, you'll follow guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation. This activates your brain's natural healing process.
Processing & Integration
Your brain reprocesses the memory, often connecting it to more adaptive information. The memory remains, but the emotional sting fades.
